Over the past months…. I have been tinkering with this here website. A blog space and eCommerce platform with a little twist.
This web is my second go at blogging. The first was abandoned due to platform and server quirks, making use quite tedious. Of course, the distractions of this modern life had nothing to do with it, nor did anxiety around the results of a well-wasted early education.
I also discovered that the old name held negative connotations toward indigenous peoples, which iced the cake for me to ditch the URL and server. So! from scratch, here we go again!
Our new attempt at the internet outside popular social media, is spurred by a need to find owners for a bunch of “Stuff.” The Stuff is the collection of beer steins, collectible dolls, and miscellaneous trinkets handed down in the estate from my departed in-laws, Phil and Geri Stange. I have just started to enter the Stange Collection into the workings of the platform, so there are only a few things in that bit of the website. All this time, all this time… I have been working on the wording for the “Twist.”
The thing is… I have no reason to host an eCommerce platform short of getting the “Stuff” out of my barn lofts! So I imagined another function for the sales platform. “The Twist”
In a nutshell, I have imagined an alternative use for a typical internet sales platform. Because the world needs another internet sales outlet, right? So I worked up this scheme for user-searched advertising that supports the livelihoods of our local communities. Specifically, livelihoods under the lens of the Ethics of Permaculture, Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share; that sparkle! This effort focused on the Flint River Watershed area, hence our website’s tagline, “Earthcare+Peoplecare+Fairshare= Local Futures.“
So as I begin the work of documenting the “Stuff” of the Stange Collection, I send out an invitation to start assembling the Local Billboards area of this space.
